Human beings will be happier - not when they cure cancer or get to Mars or eliminate racial prejudice or flush Lake Erie but when they find ways to inhabit primitive communities again. That's my utopia.

Never ever mess with a hobbit As in all discussion of fundamentalism, it's necessary to acknowledge that the vast majority of Tolkien-readers are gentle, peaceful people who tolerate the existence of other points of view. We are talking in this piece only about a small band of fanatics who have misunderstood the message of the holy book.

Ashcroft Deconstructed By Jacob Weisberg "To those who scare peace-loving
people with phantoms of lost liberty, my message is this,"
he said. "Your tactics only aid terrorists, for they erode our
national unity and diminish our resolve. They give
ammunition to America's enemies, and pause to America's
friends. They encourage people of good will to remain
silent in the face of evil.

We Are All Suspects, If Ashcroft Has His Way With all due respect, of course, and God Bless America too, has anyone
considered the possibility that the U.S. attorney general is becoming unhinged?

Poor John Ashcroft is under a lot of strain here. Is it possible his mind has started to give under
the weight of responsibility, what with having to stop terrorism between innings against doctors
trying to help the dying in Oregon and California? Why not take a Valium, sir, and go track
down some nice domestic nut with access to anthrax, OK?

Vote Hemp Inc. -- Legislative Alerts and UpdatesAction Alert

Write DEA to Oppose New Hemp Seed Rules
December 10th deadline for public comments

DEA recently issued new rules that attempt to ban hemp seed and oil based foods. Hemp foods are a healthy and tasty nutritional resource for Americans and the DEA’s new rules will cause substantial harm to hemp businesses and consumers alike. These rules are blatant violations of the original Congressional intent that exempted hemp seed and oil from DEA's control: the miniscule trace non-significant THC in hemp seed and oil presents absolutely no potential for abuse. Poppy seed bagels are legal even though they contain trace amounts of opiates, yet DEA has not tried to remove them from your local bakery. DEA is now requesting comments on the proposed and interim rules.

Is this just me, or is there something very wrong with this statement? Perhaps the DEA should educate themselves a bit.. Sad. DEA RULE BANS HEMP FOOD PRODUCTS DEA Administrator Asa Hutchinson has also said that "many Americans do
not know that hemp and marijuana are both parts of the same plant and that hemp cannot be produced
without producing marijuana," according to a DEA statement.
