Stylesheet Portfolio

While working on this portfolio, my objective was to make my page as cross-browser compatible as possible. Given the quirks with each browser it wasn't quite possible. I reconstructed the covers of two books. Both reconstructions look best in Internet Explorer. The books I reconstructed are below, along with a description of the major issues I encountered.

This book worked the best. The image near the center of this picture is slightly different than the book I had in-hand to model it by. The problems I encountered were with Netscape. The upper left background color only spans the text, and letterspacing would not work correctly, which threw some of the alignment off. I also previewed this in Netscape 6 PR2 and it was worse!

I liked this book for its overlapping text effect. Again, I ran into problems with letter-spacing. It worked quite nicely in IE but not at all in NN 4.72. The biggest and most surprising problem came when I was unable to apply a background color to the table cell in NN. It also doesn't seem to work in NN6 along with further issues in alignment. I tried both classes and ID knowing NN has a problem with <div> at times, but it made no difference. I played with the idea of simply making the body background black, but it didn't look much like a book, so I opted to allow the browsers to display as they normally would. Just be forewarned; it looks best in IE
